Consulting

As an expert in psychiatric treatments, addictions, clinical research, basic and translational neuroscience research, teaching, and technologies related to addiction, I am frequently asked to consult and provide my opinion on these subjects to businesses, government agencies and the media.

Some projects in which I have been recently involved:

  • Briefing the US Congress on the opioid epidemic
  • Consulting for Google on how to improve internet searches for addiction treatment
  • Consulting for biotechnology companies on development of devices related to addiction treatment
  • Providing commentary to various media organizations (e.g., New York Times, USA Today, Vice News, The Daily Beast, Self Magazine) about addiction and its treatments
  • Developing clinical addiction services at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, one of the largest hospital systems within New York City and the surrounding area
  • Sitting on the Board of the Directors of the Lower East Side Service Center, one of the oldest addiction treatment programs in the country
  • Organizing the teaching of medication assisted treatment of opioid use disorder to community providers

I am currently available for consulting related to these and other areas.  Media contact requests should go through the Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute Office of Media Relations (news@nyspi.columbia.edu).  For private business or government consulting, please use the contact information on the left-hand side of this page.
